Shirleymae Z. Holdenried (Zechmann)

Shirleymae Z. Holdenried, Sioux City passed away on Thursday January 26,2012 at the Methodist Hospice House in Omaha, NE.
Shirleymae was born on August 8,1920 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of John and Henrietta (Metz) Zechmann. She graduated from Sioux City Central High School in 1938 where she belonged to the Philomathian Society, and was Inner Circle Friendship president and class vice president.
She attended Morningside College and was a member of Kappa Pi Alpha Sorority. She worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. and the First National Bank in Sioux City.
She married Russ Holdenried on November 25, 1943 in Tacoma, Washington where he was a Captain in the Army Air Forces. After the war, they returned to Sioux City. She was member of La Sertoma, Catholic Women’s League, Carmel Guild, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, and the Sioux City Country Club where she enjoyed golf and bridge. She always enjoyed being with her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Russ in December 1999. She is survived by a son John and his wife Lynne of Omaha, Ne; a daughter Merietta Yellman and her husband John of Plano, Texas; a son Rob and his wife Charlotte of Knoxville, Tenn; and a daughter Holly of Omaha, Ne. She has seven grandchildren: Jake and Joe Holdenried, and Joe’s wife Maria; Brayden, Merissa, and Rylan Yellman; and Joshua and Jack Holdenried.
