SIOUX CITY -- Sister Martha Glaser OSB, 92, died Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center-Sioux City following a brief illness.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Spirit Retirement Home Chapel, with the Rev. Dennis W. Meinen officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Sister Martha was born Feb. 18, 1919, in Spalding, Neb., the daughter of John and Louise (Pfeifer) Glaser. She entered the Order of St. Benedict following her graduation from high school.
She served as the food service director at St. Vincent's Hospital and St. Monica Home, both in Sioux City, St. Benedict's Hospital in Sterling, Colo., and St. Benedict Center in Madison, Wis. After retiring from food service, Sister Martha served as retirement coordinator for the Sisters of St. Benedict in Sioux City and continued her charismatic prayer group ministry.
She is remembered fondly by the Sisters of St. Benedict, her family, the staff and guests at Holy Spirit Retirement Home and many friends.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Leo, Fred, Andrew and Richard Glaser; and a sister, Marie Glaser.
