Stanley J. Fjeldos

Stanley J. Fjeldos, 88, of Moville died Saturday, May 10, 2014, Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center in Kingsley, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes in Sioux City. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home.
Stanley was born on Dec. 23, 1925, in Sioux City, the son of Olaf and Karen (Holden) Fjeldos. He attended school in Sioux City. Stanley joined the U.S. Navy and served honorably from 1944 to 1946. He also served in the Air National Guard during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953.
Stanley married Eilene Woods on April 16, 1949, in Dakota City. To this union five children were born. They later divorced. He married Vivian Vaughn on May 22, 1965. Vivian died on Oct. 26, 2007. Stanley worked as a carpenter and in park maintenance for the city of Sioux City.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, jig-saw puzzles and singing in the shower.
Stanley is survived by son, Warren (Patty) Fjeldos; daughter, Marilynne McCrackin; son, Craig (Mary); daughter, Gayle Block, all of Vancouver, Wash.; son, Bryan (Gretchen) Fjeldos of Green Bay, Wis.; stepson, Dave (Karen) Bennar of Moville; two stepdaughters, Darla (Jim) Rock of Pierson, Iowa, and Sharron (Ron) Ryden of Dakota City; stepson, Mike (Colleen Vaughn of Onawa, Iowa; 26 grandchildren; 57 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great-grandchildren; and brothers, Jim (Linda) Fetterman of Olathe, Kan., and David (Rebecca) Fetterman of Tipton, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Butch Benner and Lee Wendte; grandchildren, Kevin, Jason and Patsy; great-grandson, Chad; and siblings, Laif, Mary, Einer and Carl.
