Stella Claire Fletcher (Harris)

MOVILLE, Iowa -- Stella Claire Fletcher, 89, of Moville passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at the Kingsley Nursing and Rehab Center.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Evangelical Church of Moville, with Pastor Chuck Polk officiating. A private family burial will be held. Visitation will be 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, 429 South Street in Moville. Online condolences may be sent to www.christysmith.com .
Stella Claire Harris was born on April 14, 1919, to Costello and Hazel (Hawkins) Harris in Tazwell County, Ill. As a child, Stella lived in the central Illinois area and graduated from high school with the Class of 1937.
On Aug. 10, 1938, Stella and Hugo Fletcher were married in Palmyra, Mo., and resided in Havana, Ill. In 1960, the family moved to O'Neill, Neb. In 1966, they moved to the Kingsley/Moville area, where they spent their remaining years.
Stella was a stay-at-home mom, taking care of the household and in her spare time, she sold Vivian Woodard Cosmetics. She was very active in her church. She started teaching Sunday school in Illinois, and continued to teach in Nebraska and Iowa for more than 50 years. She enjoyed working in the garden and with her flowers. Stella and Hugo were avid square dancers.
Surviving Stella are her daughters, Ann Steging of Athens, Ga., and Vicki Reynoldson of Sergeant Bluff; a brother, Donald and wife, Doris, of Ohio; sisters, Donna and husband, Ed Bishop, of Oregon, and Sharon Brooks of Illinois; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends survive Stella.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hugo in 2007; a son, Michael Hugo Fletcher; a son-in-law, Ken Reynoldson; brothers, William, Keith, Ray, John, Calvin and Herbert; and sisters, Marge, June and Barbara.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
