Stephen M. Harris

Sergeant Bluff, IA – Stephen “Steve” M. Harris, 81, died Monday, November 27, 2023, at local hospital in Sioux City, IA.

A visitation will be 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Morningside Chapel, 1801 Morningside Ave., with a prayer service at 6:30 pm.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 am Friday, December 1, 2023, at Mater Dei Parish-Church of the Nativity.  Burial will be 1:00 pm Monday, December 4, 2023, at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.christysmith.com.

Stephen “Steve” Maurice Harris, the son of Maurice and Anna (Bilunas) Harris was born April 24, 1942, in Sioux City, IA.  He graduated from East High School in 1960.  Steve was an apprentice at Kalin’s Indoor Comfort and then went to work for them.

On July 6, 1963, Steve was united in marriage with Patricia “Pat” Suknot at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sioux City.  Steve continued with Kalin’s, working there for over 40 years until his retirement.

Steve was a member of The Church of the Nativity.  His hobbies included woodworking and fishing.  Steve also greatly enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

Steve is survived by his wife, Pat of Sergeant Bluff, IA; daughters, Kris Savary of Sergeant Bluff, and Deb Susemihl of Le Mars, IA; grandchildren, Keegan (Karlee) Savary of Sioux Falls, SD, Kaitlin Savary of Sioux City, Korbyn Savary of Sergeant Bluff, Jade Susemihl of Le Mars, and Dylan Susemihl of Le Mars; and many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and a son-in-law, Todd Savary.
