Steve J. Elgert, 52, of Sioux City passed away at his home, the Blue House on Hell’s Alley and Knuckle Rd.
Services will be 1 p.m. today at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. He will be cremated following the service.
Steve was born on Aug. 9, 1960 in Sioux City. He was the son Julian and Dorothy (Barrett) Elgert. He was lifelong resident of Sioux City.
He married Susan Collins, they later divorced. He then married Stacey Anderson. He enjoyed working on cars and could fix anything. He loved fishing and anything to do with the outdoors. He didn’t have friends, he considered them all family and family was the most important thing in his life.
He is survived by two children, Susie Elgert and her fiancé, Adam Watkins of Sioux City, and Casei Anderson of Sioux Falls, S.D., his grandchildren, Frank Abramo Jr., Thania Miranda, Sal Abramo, Kelsey Abramo and Dustin Dietrich; a great-grandchild, Maitee Abramo; his father, Julian Elgert of Sioux City; brothers and sisters, Fern and Dick Mace of Sioux City, Eric and Sandy Elgert of Oklahoma, Barbara and Roger McWilliams of Sioux City, Evelyn and Darrell Lundquist of Sioux City, and Bruce Elgert of Sioux City
He was preceded in death by his mother and his twin brother.
