Steven Clifford Miller

March 20, 1945 — September 29, 2011

SIOUX CITY -- Steven Clifford Miller, 66, of Sioux City passed away from a brief illness Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Steve was born March 20, 1945, in Sioux City, and was the only child of Art and Vera Miller. He graduated from East High School in 1963 and attended Morningside College. He worked as both a heavy equipment operator and salesmen during his long work career until he retired in 2010.

He married Susan Miller in 1964 and had three boys, Steven, Brett and Bart. In 1978, he married Judy Bayne Donahue who had four kids, Tom, Debbie, Chris and Jeff. They had Stefenie. Steve was a father, friend and mentor to them all.

One of Steve's greatest accomplishments was being a family man. He not only was everyone's everything, he went to everyone's everything. It was a rarity if he missed a game or a recital for any of his kids or his grandkids. He made it a priority to be there to show support, help coach or get the crowd excited. His family was his everything. He religiously called people on their birthday to sing to them, he was great at making you feel special and he taught all of his kids to do the right thing just because you should, always help others in need and never give up.

Steve was a man of strong faith. He was an elder at his church and enjoyed helping with Sunday School, church camps and cook offs. He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed cooking and loved car races. He had the best Halloween decorations for miles and could fix anything. He was a Ford man, cheered for the Vikings, loved animals, especially his bloodhound, Dafenie, and had a humorous, yet wise saying to match just about every situation. He was very creative and enjoyed making sculptures out of sheet metal and even built his own koi pond with a waterfall in his back yard. He never ran out of new ideas for all of his creations.

He will be remembered and missed by his wife, Judy Miller; his kids and their spouses, Tom and Kim Donahue, Steven and Cissy Miller, Debbie and Dave Condon, Brett Miller, Chris Donahue, Bart and Bert Miller, Jeff Donahue, Stefenie and Jason Wright; and his grandkids, Mitchell, Jessica, Ryan, Riley, Aaron, Amari, Logan, Aman, Simon, Heather, Carleigh and Gwendolyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Vera Miller.
