Terry Donald Peters

Terry Donald Peters, originally of Sioux City, IA, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the Halstad Living Center in MN, where he has been residing for the past 6 years. He passed peacefully in his sleep. He was 81 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Friday, January 24, 2025, at Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Sioux City. (1801 Morningside Ave.) Visitation will begin at 9:30 am. Reception and interment ceremony will be held following the funeral services.

Terry was born September 15, 1943, to Donald and Esther (Holmes) Peters. He graduated from Central High School in Sioux City. Following high school, he attended Wayne State University. After college, he worked in sales in a number of industries around the Sioux City area. After he retired from sales, he worked in various casinos in the area. He loved dealing blackjack and craps.

Terry married Judith K. Murphy on June 5, 1965, in Sioux City. They shared a wonderful, happy marriage for 52 years. They had 2 sons, Jeffrey Troy and Scott Corey. Following retirement, Terry and Judy moved to Elk Point, SD, where they resided for a number of years until following the sunshine down to Apache Junction, AZ. 

Terry loved golfing, fishing, and hunting. He enjoyed many fishing trips to Canada over the years with his wife and sons, and also with a close group of longtime friends. He loved pheasant hunting and was a lifelong fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes. 

Terry is survived by son, Jeff (Kari); grandsons, Jacob and Connor, Fargo, ND; grandson, Corey, Sioux City, IA; sister, Meredith (John) Hanlon, Naples, FL; and sister, Cathy Meyers, Sioux City, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Judy; son, Scott; brother, Kenny; and sister, Phyllis.
