Ted Wiemann, the son of Henry and Bernice Wiemann, was born on July 14, 1931, at a farm in Audubon County, Iowa, along with a brother Jon and two sisters, Ann Jeanette & Dorothy. Ted was raised in and around the Audubon farm area where he attended several different rural schools and graduated from Audubon High School in 1950. That same year, he was employed with Iowa Public Service Company (IPS), now MidAmerican, at Audubon as a temporary labor and later became a lineman. He met Wanda M. Jensen, who also worked at IPS as an office clerk. They were married in Exira, Iowa on August 15, 1955. They then lived in Audubon for five years where their two sons, Mark and Curtis, were born.

In 1960, they moved to Elk Horn, Iowa, where Ted served as a local lineman, and they lived there for 8 years. Continuing his education, Ted enrolled in a correspondence engineering course and received a degree. While in Elk Horn, they adopted a daughter, Amy Jo, in 1968. Shortly thereafter, he was transferred to Canton, South Dakota. He was an Assistant Manager for IPS for 2½ years. His next move was to Cherokee, Iowa, as an Area Manager for IPS. They lived there for 10 years. In 1980, Ted was promoted to West District Area Manager in Sioux City, Iowa, and then in 1991, he retired after 41 years of service. In every community Ted lived in he was active in community service and civic organizations.

Ted was a member of several Chamber of Commerce, Rotary and Kiwanis clubs. He was an active member in the American Red Cross as an officer and Board Member for several years. He served as a trustee of the Greater Downtown Sioux City Skywalk and was Chairperson for several terms. He also served on the City Council at Elk Horn and was Chairperson on the Zoning Commission at Cherokee. He was member of the Iowa National Guard in Audubon and was assigned to flood duty in SW Iowa in the early 1950’s.

Ted was a member of the Grace Methodist Church in Sioux City where he attended regularly; he liked the Saturday evening services. He served on the SPR Committee at Grace.

Hobbies were the thing he enjoyed the most, building and flying model radio-controlled airplanes, hunting, golf, yard work, and his favorite was wood working. Ted built many tables, chairs, dressers, hutches and many small Christmas presents. He also enjoyed the Handyman projects after he retired from the Utility Company. After retirement, his fellow employees and their wives enjoyed their gaming places & lunches together at least once a week. He was always ready to help his neighbors and friends with projects, yard work, and was willing to help others.

Ted is survived by son Mark and wife Joan of Algona, and daughter Amy Jo (Billy Harper) of Sioux City, brother Jon in California and sister Ann J Keeney of Davenport, Iowa, grandchildren John (Laura) of Algona, Iowa, Jamie (Aaron) Bauer of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Crystal (Jason Duvall), Tina (Brent Jonas) of Sioux City, Iowa, and Thimery (Josh Wimmer) of Anthon, Iowa, as well as several great-grandchildren.
