SIOUX CITY -- Theresa Mary VanWaart, 75, lifelong resident of Sioux City died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at Countryside Nursing Home in Sioux City.
Private family graveside services will be today in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Michael J. Erpelding officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Theresa was born Aug. 5, 1934, in Sioux City, to Boleslaw and Sophie (Malita) Buka. She graduated from Heelan High School in 1952.
She married Leo VanWaart on June 8, 1958, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Sioux City.
She was a member of Nativity Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Leo VanWaart of Sioux City; two sisters, Bernice Schreiber of Sioux City and Sister Consilia Buka of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother-in-law, Henry VanWaart of Sioux City; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Nelson and Corrine Dikman, both of Sioux City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister and her husband, Helen and Norman Bernick; a sister-in-law, Marion Young; and four brothers-in-law, Joe, Hans and Pete VanWaart and Ronald Schreiber.
