Sioux City - Thomas "Tom" Hisler, 74, of Sioux City passed away Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Scott Squire of Crescent Park United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation with the family present will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online at www.christysmith.com .
Tom was born in Blairsburg, Iowa, on Oct. 12, 1938. He was the son of Jack and Vera Hisler. He was raised on a farm in Duncombe, Iowa. He attended country school until eighth grade, then attended high school in Webster City, Iowa.
He married his high school sweetheart, Della Warren, on Oct. 27, 1956. They moved to Sioux City in 1965 and raised their children (The 5 J’s). Tom worked for Pepsi-Cola for many years and retired from Frito-Lay in 1994.
He enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with his family and friends. He and Della spent three winters camping in Arizona. His family will fondly remember him by his adventurous and energetic personality; and by the "Auctioneer Song."
He is survived by his wife, Della; his children, Jennifer (Bill) Martinsen of Hawarden, Iowa, Jeff (Robin) Hisler of Heber, Utah, Joe (Shelly) Hisler of Heber, Jay D. Hisler of Heber, and Jill (Jim Denker) Matousek of Dakota Dunes, S.D.; 22 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brothers, Jim, Chuck and Bob Hisler and their spouses; and his sisters, Lucretia and Kathy Jo and their spouses.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
