Thomas J. Johnson, age 71, of Sioux City passed away Monday, August 9, 2021.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2021, at Holy Cross Parish, Blessed Sacrament Church with Father David Hemann officiating. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, August 12, 2021, at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Larkin Chapel located at 2320 Outer Drive N. Sioux City, IA. A Parish Vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m. with Deacon Fred Karpuk officiating.
Thomas James Johnson was born December 28, 1949, in Troy, OH, the son of Harold and Mona (Brady) Johnson. He graduated from Newton High School. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he attained the rank of Master Chief. He served in the Navy for 25 years.
In 1989 Thomas was united in marriage to Beatrice Saleh in Norfolk, VA. The couple made their home in Norfolk for 30 years, where Thomas worked for Kinkos as a driver. In 2006 he moved to Sioux City and worked for FedEx in the office.
Thomas was a member at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He enjoyed riding motorcycles. He loved his rescue animals, including 5 cats and 2 dogs.
Thomas is survived by his wife, Beatrice Johnson of Sioux City; siblings, Lisa (Robert) Stewart of Troy, OH, Richard Johnson of Troy, OH, Maryann (Patterson) Claypool-Watren of Troy, OH, Susan (Paul) Claypool-Kozuszek of Piqua, OH, Jeff Park (Brian Baker) of Nova Scotia; special aunt, Gladys Guerra; several nieces and nephews; and his favorite cat, Callie.
He is preceded in death by his parents; biological father, Tom Claypool; daughter, Heather Johnson; brother-in-law, James Saleh.
