SIOUX CITY -- Thomas A. Schwartz, 77, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, May 5, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Thomas Allan Schwartz was born Aug. 28, 1932, in Madison, Neb., the son of George Schwartz and Mary (Lovelace) Schwartz. He attended school at Greengarden School and later attended high school in Madison.
Tom married Marlene Heckman on July 15, 1952, in Denver, Colo. He served with the U.S. Air Force and was a veteran of the Korean conflict.
He was of the Lutheran faith.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene Schwartz of Sioux City; four sons, David and Kathy Schwartz of Sioux City, Richard and Becky Schwartz of Sioux City, Jerry and Nancy Schwartz of Merrill, Iowa, and Tommy and Jan Schwartz of Sioux City; a daughter, Janice and Lee Mitchell of Hornick, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Georgia Eyl of Norfolk, Neb.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Steven Schwartz and Thomas Schwartz; a son in infancy; his parents; and a sister, Betty Lyon.
