Tim was born July 27, 1928, in Chula, Ga., the son of Oscar and Delours Cantrell. After his formal education in Georgia, Tim attended Coyne Electronics School in Chicago. After completing his schooling, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he served for nine years. After retiring from the Air Force, he was employed with the Civil Service and continued his electronics background working for the U.S. Department of Navy. After some years, he moved to Iowa and was employed as an insurance agent with American Income Life.
On Feb. 5, 1982, Tim married Eleanore "Ellie" Rarrat. They made their home in McCook Lake, where they shared 31 years of happiness there and at their home in south Texas.
Tim enjoyed many hobbies including camping, traveling, boating and had a love of rock hunting, lapidary and faceting gem stones. The many fishing trips with his sons always brought him happy memories of the big catch or the one that got away. Among the survivors are two daughters of a previous marriage, Robin (Davy) Webb and Rhonda (Jim) Miller; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren, all of Atlanta, Ga. In addition to his wife, Ellie, he is survived by six stepchildren, Cindy (Tim) Simons of Mathis, Texas, Fred (Carissa) Rarrat of Sioux City, Michael (Karla) Rarrrat of Mathis, Christina (Rick) Rodgers of Mathis, Joseph (Patty) of Jefferson, S.D., and Rebecca (Kevin) Parks of Sioux City; 26 grandchildren;; 16 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Melvin (Melba) of Macon, Ga., Merlyn (Betty) of Jacksonville, Ga., Oscar (Barb) of Darien, Ga., and Ronnie (Mary) Cantrell of Fitzgerald, Ga.; and a sister, Judy (Stanley) Tucker of Ocilla, Ga.
