SIOUX CITY -- Tim A. Van Meter, 59, of Sioux City died on Friday, July 22, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Russell Senstad officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.

Tim was born on Jan. 3, 1952 in Sioux City. He was the son of Willard W. and Mona J (Anderson) Van Meter. He was a lifelong Sioux City resident. He graduated from East High School in 1970. He then entered the electronics program at Western Iowa Tech. Tim has been employed at Office Systems in Sioux City since July of 1972 and was currently the service manager.

He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and he also served on the Electronic Advisory Committee at W.I.T. One of the things that he was proudest of was being a blood donor at the Siouxland Blood Bank where he had donated 23 gallons of blood over the course of his life. He loved fishing, working and was known for his card tricks and the jokes he loved to tell.

Tim is survived by his two sons, Brett and his wife Tara of Sioux City and their children, Drake, Braxton and one on the way, and Wade Van Meter and Allison Polley of Sioux City; his mother, Mona J. Van Meter of Sioux City; two sisters, Carolyn and Lee Baczwaski of Dakota City, and Joy and Brent Larsen of Sloan, Iowa; his brother, Joel of Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father and his twin brother, Tommy, who died shortly after his birth.
