Timothy John Higgins, 54, of Sioux City, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at University of Nebraska Medical Center surrounded by his loving family.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, July 19th at Christy Smith Funeral Home – Morningside Chapel with a prayer service at 7:00pm. The funeral will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, July 20th at The Church of Nativity with Father Brad Pelzel officiating, with the burial to follow at Calvary Cemetery.

Tim was born on August 11, 1969, in Sioux City, Iowa, to John and Mary Ann Higgins. He graduated from East High School in 1987 and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force for two and a half years before transferring to the 185th Air Refueling Wing. It was during his time in the military that he married the love of his life and his best friend, Angela Bartling. Upon transferring, Tim and Angie settled and raised their family back in Sioux City. He then began working for the City of Sioux City, where he stayed for 25 years. For his final 8 years, he loved working with everyone at McClure Engineering as a Senior Technical Expert.
Throughout his life, Tim was devoted to serving within his church and actively volunteering with various organizations including Boy Scouts of America, the American Red Cross, Sioux City East show choir, the American Legion, Mighty Mo Trap Shooting, and Pheasants Forever. Outside of his many commitments, he enjoyed camping, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Tim is survived by; his wife, Angie; his three children and their spouses: Mathew and Ashley Higgins (Coon Rapids, MN), Abigail and Brandon Lehr (Lincoln, NE), Myah Higgins and her fiancée Matt Balomenos (Sioux City, IA); three grandchildren: Kennedy and Grayson Higgins and Brooklynn Lehr; his mother, Mary Ann, his siblings: Julie and Bill Zediker, Lisa and Keith Felts, Shanna and Brad Duggan, and Chris and Jill Higgins; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, John and his sister, Sandy.
In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial to Woodbury County Pheasants Forever or Sergeant Bluff American Legion Post 662.
