SIOUX CITY -- Twila L. Ohl, 94, of Sioux City died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at Sunrise Retirement Community.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mark Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John Hagberg officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Twila was born March 2, 1916, in Allen, Neb., to Tucker and Ellen (Overboe) Larson. She attended school in Waterbury, Neb.
She married Jack Ohl on Sept. 7, 1936. They made their home in Sioux City. She worked at Wincharger in the 1940s. She then raised her children. When they were all adults, she worked for the Area Education Association for more than 20 years. Jack died in 1977.
She was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. She enjoyed going to restaurants with her friends and her cat-things collection. She was a fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Bears.
Survivors include two sons, Steve and Sonya Ohl of Salix, Iowa, and Rick and Wendy Ohl of Sioux City; a son-in-law, Gordon Hull of Sioux City; six grandsons, Randy and Martha Hull of Wausau, Wis., Brian and Michelle Hull of Omaha, Rusty and Amy Hull of Dubuque, Iowa, Todd and Julie Ohl of Dakota Dunes, Brent and Peggy Ohl and Craig Ohl, all of Eldridge, Iowa; a granddaughter, Tammy and Jaimee Kirsch of Sioux City; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tucker and Ellen Larson; her husband, Jack Ohl; a daughter, Jackie Hull; a brother, Clarence Larson; and a sister, Clara Lamm.
