Vanner Victor Stoneburg, 86, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Matthew Miller officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel. Condolences may be sent online to

Vanner was born Sept. 25, 1921, in Sioux City. He attended Sioux City schools and graduated from Central High School in 1940. He had been a lifelong resident of the Sioux City area.
ON March 10, 1949, he married Helen Preston. She passed away on Aug. 8, 1994. He was a lifelong farmer. His favorite pastimes were farming, being outdoors and watching things grow.
He served in the Farm Bureau board and also was a county director during the 1960s.
Survivors include a brother, Bert and Gerry Stoneburg of Arizona; Laverne and Harley Urwiler of Laurel, Neb., and Joann and Kenneth Huffman of Washington; a special niece, Jaylene and Joseph Bauerly of Sioux City; and special friends, Larry and Sarah Grohs.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; and a sister, Margaret Stanley.
