SIOUX CITY -- Vernabelle McManamy, 92, of Sioux City died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at a Sioux City nursing home.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Divis of Northside Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
Vernabelle was born March 1, 1916, in Sioux City, the daughter of Joseph and Verna (Pfifer) Spears. She was a lifelong resident of Sioux City. She attended East High School.
She married Ronald F. McManamy on Oct. 30, 1935, in Cherokee, Iowa. He died Feb. 6, 1992, in Sioux City.
She was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Garden Club, Iris Society and a member of the Republican party, where she served as a volunteer.
She is survived by a son, Ron (Dody) McManamy of Dakota Dunes; a daughter, Marjorie (Bill) Davis of Sioux City; seven grandchildren, Becky Davis of Sioux City, Linda Davis of Sioux City, Sandra (Mark) Rickertsen of Hutchinson, Minn., Michael (Amy) McManamy of Sioux City, Kevin (Kristie) McManamy of Sioux City, Heather Graves of Sioux City and Mindi (Keith) Farrell of Sioux City; 17 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a niece, Marilynne Castleberry of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a sister, Josephine Potter; and a brother-in-law, William Potter.
