Sioux City - Vernon E. "Brownie" Brown, 61, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2013, at a local hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Vernon was born on June 23, 1952, in Sioux City, to Homer and Jean (Daugherty) Brown.
He was united in marriage to Linda Haire on Aug. 26, 1972, in Sioux City. Vernon had worked for more than 30 years at Smurfit-Stone and was most recently employed at Interbake Foods.
He enjoyed bowling, and was on a league for 17 years. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, and tinkering with things. Vernon also loved going to Las Vegas.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Linda; daughters, Tammy Brown and partner, Scott Moore of Sioux City, and Tanya Brown of Sioux City; granddaughters, Linsey and Viola Brown; sister, Vernama (Fred) Hayden of Sioux City; stepfather, Chuck Daugherty; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Nancy (Bill) McFarland of Westfield, Iowa; brother-in-laws, Steven Haire of Akron, Iowa, Mike (Maureen) Haire of Sioux City, and Ricky Haire of Jackson, Neb.; and an aunt, Eileen Sardenson of Sioux City.
He is preceded in death by his parents; mother and father-in-law, Lorene and George Haire; sister, Tina Johnson; and grandson, Tyler Brown.
Memorials may be made to the family.
