SIOUX CITY -- Venona Maxine Wells, 85 of North Platte, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
Memorial Services will be held at a later date in Sioux City. Local arrangements are under the direction of Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
She was born July 20, 1924, in Sioux City, to Frank W. and Elsie Knudsen Pritchard. Venona graduated from South Sioux City High School. She was a secretary at St. Mark's Lutheran Church and later was a bank teller at Wells Fargo for many years.
On June 2, 1947, she married Clarence Eugene Wells. She lived in Sioux City most of her life until 2005, when she moved to North Platte to live with her granddaughter.
She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Knowles of Las Vegas, Nev., Judy Rymer of Killeen, Texas, and Barbara Horner of Troy, Texas; son, John (Rose Marie) Wells of Trinidad, Colo.; a sister, Mary McSparran of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; and a grandson.
