Veronica M. "Ronnie" Beck (Hawkins)

Veronica M. "Ronnie" Beck, 86, of North Mankato, Minn., formerly of Sioux City, transitioned peacefully in her sleep Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, following a brief illness.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7 at Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes. Private family burial will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery.
Veronica was born Sept. 30, 1926, in Chicago, the daughter of William H. Hawkins and Dena (Agostine) Hawkins.
Ronnie was a resident of Sioux City for 85 years, graduating from Central High School in 1944. She attended business school in Sioux City.
She married John M. Beck on May 31, 1947. They settled in Leeds.
Ronnie was employed 25 years for Schroder Engineering, which became an extended family.
She was an active member of St. Michael Catholic Church. She enjoyed her time volunteering with United Way, Omega Pi Chapter and the American Business Women's Association. Ronnie loved her family and friends and their many gatherings during the years.
Survivors include her husband of 66 years, John Beck; her daughter, Elizabeth Beck of North Mankato; a brother, Loren (Rae) Hawkins of Gracemont, Okla.; and numerous cherished family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
