Vertress Fitzpatrick, 95, of Plymouth, Minn., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at a Sioux City hospital.
Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday at Christy Smith Morningside Chapel. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Anthon, Iowa. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Vertress was born on Feb. 17, 1918, in Anthon, to Web and Nettie (Johnson) White. She was united in marriage to Daniel John Fitzpatrick in 1937. She moved from Sioux City to Minneapolis in 1986. She enjoyed her dogs, cooking, playing cards, fishing, word puzzles, golfing, bowling, and gardening. Vertress liked to send and receive mail and never missed sending a birthday card. She retired from Marion Health Center.
Those left to honor her memory include her children; Kathleen Tott (Jim Wienhold) Plymouth, Minn., Daniel (Rebecca) Fitzpatrick, Sioux City; her grandchildren, Eddie Dondelinger and Todd Dondelinger, Victorville, Calif., Lori Lynn Dondelinger, Atlanta, Ga., James Fitzpatrick, Plano, Texas, Jennifer Hunter, Sioux City, Greg Beck, Sioux City, Chad Beck, Dallas, Texas, Tamera Litzau, Germantown, Wisc., Tina Tott, Plymouth, Minn., 18 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Card, of Sioux City, and Doris Omvig, of Des Moines; sister-in-law Ruth White, Sioux City; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Daniel; two daughters, Patricia Dondelinger, Geraldine Fitzpatrick-Koch; and infant son, Gerald; two grandchildren, Jeremy Dondelinger and John Fitzpatrick; sister, Norma Thompson, and brother, Kenneth White.
