Vincent Edward Sargent, 45, of Sioux City died on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Morningside Lutheran Church, 700 South Martha Street in Sioux City, with the Rev. Paul Andell officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, 1801 Morningside Avenue, Sioux City.
Vincent was born Nov. 24, 1969, in Boone, Iowa, to Lewis and Rosemarie (Kiddie) Sargent. He grew up near Jewell, Iowa, and attended elementary, junior high and high school at South Hamilton, graduating in 1988. Following graduation, he enrolled at National College in Rapid City, S.D., and earned an associate’s degree.
In the fall of 1990, Vincent enlisted in the U.S. Army and served his country for five years as a Military Policeman that included tours of duty in Germany and Panama. After his honorable discharge, he went to work for Foot Locker, working or managing several different stores before moving to Sioux City, and working for the Chesterman Company and most recently, as a sales agent for Banker's Life and Casualty Company.
On Oct. 11, 2008, Vincent married the love of his life, Leah Sneller, and the couple made their home in Sioux City. The marriage was blessed by a son, Lewis Edward Finley Sargent on Sept. 11, 2010, and was the joy of Vincent’s life.
He was a posthumous member of Morningside Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Leah Sargent of Sioux City; son, Lewis Sargent of Sioux City; his mother, Rosemarie Sargent of Jewell, Iowa; sister, Sharyl (Weston) Keil of Manson, Iowa; two brothers, Michael (Katherine) Sargent of Des Moines, Iowa, and Clint (Meg) Sargent of Missouri Valley, Iowa; his father and stepmother-in-law, David (Gerrie) Sneller of Brandon, S.D.; mother-in-law, Barb Saults; special friend, Richard King of Norfolk, Neb.; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Vincent was preceded in death by was his father, Lewis Sargent.
