Viola O. Norton-Halvorson, 77, of Sioux City passed away Monday, Sept. 8, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Berkemier Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 3:30 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
Viola was born May 31, 1931, in Sioux City, to John and Arnetta (Mummert) Norton. She attended Smith School in Sioux City. She married Howard Halvorson in Sioux City. She was raised in Sioux City and moved to Burbank and Vermillion, S.D., then back to Sioux City in 1988 until present.
She was baptized in the Christian faith. She enjoyed walking the mall, visiting and going out to eat with her husband.
Survivors include her husband, Howard of Vermillion; a son, Howard Fetterman of Glenwood, Iowa; two sisters, Norma and James Diggs of Chapel Hill, N.C., and Louise Trice of Sioux City; special nieces and nephews, William "Joe" Trice and Sue Thill, both of Sioux City; and several other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, John and Harry Norton; and a sister, Leora Norton.
