Viola Schlotman, 93, of Sioux City passed away Friday, April 25, 2008, at Holy Spirit Nursing Home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Christy-Smith Funeral Homes, Berkemier Chapel, 5206 Military Road, with Pastor Janice Bennett of Riverside United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6 to 7:30 p.m., at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.christysmith.com .
Viola was born June 24, 1914, to Ira and Rosie (Winterrenger) Kelsey in Oto, Iowa. The family moved to Sioux City when Viola was a child. She attended and graduated from East High School.
On Oct. 25, 1937, Viola and Clarence Schlotman were married in Sioux City. Clarence passed away on March 24, 1993. She was a legal secretary for a number of years. Later, she worked for Hatfield Farm Management Company for 16 years, retiring in 1976.
She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, the Milwaukee R.R. Club and AARP. Viola enjoyed camping, fishing and gardening. She loved her flowers and her home, where she could be close to her family.
Surviving Viola are her sons, Clyde and wife, Rita and Sid and wife, Penny, all of Sioux City; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence; sisters, Elsie Donnely, Irene Lamb and Lucille Paulson; and two infant grandchildren, Kimberly and Charles Schlotman.
Memorials may be directed to the family.
