MOVILLE, Iowa -- Violet Irene (Durigan) Rath, 81, of Moville died Wednesday, July 9, 2008, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville, with the Rev. Mark J. Stoll officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville.
Violet was born Jan. 12, 1927, to William Durigan and Minnie (Hansen) Durigan, in Yankton, S.D. She grew up in the Yankton area.
She married Raymond Rath on Sept. 30, 1944. She had been a lifelong resident of Moville since shortly after her marriage. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of America and the Altar Society. She enjoyed playing cards, baking and family gatherings. She was a very energetic individual.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Rath; a daughter and her husband, Rae Joann and William Redding of Moville; a son and his wife, Randy and Linda Rath of Sioux City; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Marie Durigan of Chicago, Ill., Betty Christensen of Sioux City, and Marcella Wright of Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her brother, William Durigan; and her parents.
