Virgil Kenneth Klemmensen, 83 of Sioux City, Iowa died on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, in Sioux City, Iowa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am on June 4, 2024, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (located at 5010 Military Rd in Sioux City) with Father Timothy A. Friedrichsen officiating. Visitation will be on June 3, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm with a Prayer Service at 5:30 pm. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Sioux City, IA.

Virgil was born March 6, 1941, in Moville, Iowa, to Alvin and Vera (Schieuer) Klemmensen. Virgil graduated from Heelan High School in Sioux City. He joined the U.S. Army in Oct of 1963 and was honorably discharged in Oct 1965. 

Virgil married Teresa S. Sanchez on October 30, 1965, at St. Agnes Church in San Antonio, TX. The couple then moved to Sioux City, IA where they raised three children: Lisa, Debbie and Scott. Virgil worked as a carpenter and owned Klemmensen Construction Company. 

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church for 59 years, and Carpenters Union Local 948 for 61 years He enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

Surviving are son, Scott & Michelle Klemmensen of Sloan, IA, daughters, Lisa & Tim Mathison of Jefferson, SD and Debbie & Shawn Holler of Jefferson, SD. 7 grandchildren, Lea, Travis, Alisha, Briley, Nikole, Austin, and Brandon; and 8 great-grandchildren. brother, Irvin & Nannette Klemmensen, Jacksonville, IL, three sisters; Donna & Ken Thompson of N. Pole, AK, Elvera & Doug Guillaume of Sioux City, Darlene and Dan Richer of Hill City, SD, brother in-law Ed Witters of Rockford, IL.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, wife Teresa and a sister Loretta.
