Virgil W. Kleve, 69, of Hubbard passed away Thursday, May 14, 2015, at home.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Christy Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City, with Pastor David Hawkins officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Virgil was born March 10, 1946, in Sibley, Iowa, to William and Lucille (Eichmann) Kleve.
Virgil married Phyllis on Jan. 26, 1963. He served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. He retired as a major in 1988 after 25 years of service.
Virgil served as past commander of American Legion Post 175 in Dakota County and Jackson, Neb. He was an active board member for Siouxland Honor Flight and was instrumental in organizing and taking Siouxland World War II veterans to Washington, D.C. to see the memorial on three occasions. Virgil was actively involved with the Veteran Memorial in Jackson.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and poker with the Pepsi Boys; and spending time with his family and his American Legion members.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; daughter, Pamela Kleve; son, Todd Kleve; six grandchildren; sisters, Sheila (Max) Hoffer and Joyce Kleve; and brothers, Larry (Linda) Kleve, Doyle (Peggy) Kleve and Ivan Kleve.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger Kleve; and sisters, Beverly Martinez and Sally Christensen.
