SIOUX CITY -- Vivian Lenore Ankeny, 81, Sioux City died Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home. The Rev. Ed Frank will officiate. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Vivian was born Nov. 1,1928, in Murdo, S.D., the daughter of Ray M and Lenora F. (Wolff) French. Vivian lived in Murdo and Draper, S.D. The family farmed in the Laurel, Dixon and Waterbury Neb. areas. Vivian graduated from Laurel High School in 1946.
She moved to Sioux City in 1947 and married Roy Russell Ankeny on Nov. 2, 1948, in Sioux City. Vivian worked for Palmer Candy Co. for two years. After the birth of her daughter, she stayed at home to take care of her child. Roy died on March 20,1995, in Sioux City.
Vivian enjoyed gardening, sewing and doing embroidery. The most important part of her life was her family, her daughter, grandson and her great-grandchildren, who were her pride and joy.
She is survived by her daughter and her husband, Donna and Ron Nicolls of Sioux City; her grandson and his wife, Mark and Skye Nicolls of Lawton, Iowa; four great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Morgan, Mason, and Trenton; her brother and his wife, Marlen and Joyce French of Allen, Neb.; a sister-in-law, Ruthe Gries; a sister-in-law and her husband, Janet and Wally Bull; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a brother and his wife, Dale and Bertha French.
