MOVILLE, Iowa -- Vivian Leona Fjeldos, 86, of Moville died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at Indian Hills Care Center in Sioux City.
Graveside services will be 2:15 p.m. Monday in Memorial Park Cemetery, with the Rev. Chuck Polk, Pastor of Moville Evangelical Church, officiating. Visitation will be 1 to 1:30 p.m. Monday, with a short service held 1:30 to 2 p.m., at Christy-Smith Morningside Funeral Home.
Vivian was born on Feb. 21, 1921, in Gregory, S.D., the daughter of John A. and Rachel E. (Birdsell) Vaughn. The family lived in a number of towns in Nebraska and South Dakota. Vivian graduated from Center (Neb.) High School.
She married Alvin Bennar in October 1938, in Yankton, S.D. She moved to Sioux City in 1950. She married Stanley J. Fjeldos on May 22, 1965, in Sioux City. Vivian moved to Moville in 1989. She was employed as a bookkeeper at the Woodbury County Courthouse and then worked for Bomgaars. She retired from Marian Health Center.
She was a member of Moville Evangelical Church, the Sisters in Spirit Church Circle, taught Sunday school and helped out in the church's nursery. She also belonged to the Senior Citizen Center in Moville and Pierson, Iowa, and the Moville Garden Club. She enjoyed reading, gardening, baking, canning and fishing.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley J. Fjeldos of Moville; her children, David and his wife, Karen Bennar of Moville, Darla and her husband, Jim Rock of Pierson, Iowa, Sharron and her husband, Ron Ryden of Dakota City, Lee and his wife, Kathy Wendte of Duncan, Okla., and Michael and his wife, Coleen Vaughn of Onawa, Iowa; two brothers, Jerry Vaughn of Norfolk, Neb., and Dean and his wife, Winnie Vaughn of Dayton, Ohio; a sister and her husband, Lorraine and Don Naslund of Norfolk; five stepchildren, Warren and his wife, Patty Fjeldos, Marilynne McCrackin and Craig and his wife, Mary Fjeldos, all of Vancouver, Wash., Bryan and his wife, Gretchen Fjeldos of Green Bay, Wis., and Gayle Brown of Vancouver; 15 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Alvin "Butch" Bennar Jr.; a brother, Lloyd Vaughn; a sister in infancy; a granddaughter, Patsy Bennar; and two stepgrandchildren.
