Vonna I. Sorensen, 71, of Sioux City died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at a Sergeant Bluff nursing home.
There will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Larkin Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Vonna was born on Jan. 22, 1941, in Mapleton, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur A. and Hattie Etta (Smothers) Durston. She came to Sioux City in 1948. She attended Central High School.
On Aug. 9, 1959, she married David L. L. Sorensen in Sioux City. Vonna and David managed the Court Street Tastee In and Out for many years. They later owned and operated a food truck for several years. David died on June 10, 2006.
Vonna is survived by two children, StarrLinn (Loren) Peters of Jackson, Neb., and Troy (Elena) Sorensen of Des Moines; five grandchildren, Kaila, Aliana, Shilo, Elijah and Savannah; several great-grandchildren; and sisters and brothers, Violet Longlee of Salix, Iowa, Lilly (Joseph) Smith of Allen, Neb., Ted (Barb) Kramer of Hillsboro, Ore., Trauncey (Sig) Kramer of Hillsboro, Gary Durston of Sioux City, Linda (Steve) Cooper of Sioux City, and Chris Rasmussen of Sioux City.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Lavonne Olsen; and brothers-in-law, Ole Olsen and Gordon Longlee.
