Moville, Iowa - Wanda R. Koch, 79, of Moville, Iowa died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Touchstone Living Center in Sioux City.
Services will be 10:30 Wednesday at McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville, with Neil Peck C.L.S.officiating. Burial will be in Arlington Township Cemetery . Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. , at the funeral home.
Wanda was born on Sept. 23, 1933 , to William and Ruth (Klenningburg) Carter, in Lamont , Okla. She moved to Colorado Springs , Colo. as a young girl, where she enjoyed the mountains until meeting a military man on leave that ended up bringing her to Iowa .
On July 21, 1956 , Wanda married Carroll "Cookie" Koch, the love of her life and had four children. She spent all of her time taking care of her family and making sure they were happy. Wanda was a great pie maker and was the best at making homemade angel food cakes that were a must to take to family gatherings.
Wanda was a blessing to be around. She always had a smile on her face and tried to lift the spirits of others around her. Wanda never asked for anything for herself during her life, but wanted everything for everyone else. She will be deeply missed by those that took the time to know her.
She is survived by her husband, Carroll "Cookie" Koch of Moville; her children, Deb and Paul Patterson of Moville, Kila and Tony Meissner of Spencer, Iowa, Barry and Dora Koch of Hornick, Iowa, and Tina Mogensen and her fiance, Ryan McFarland of Moville; grandchildren, Keshia, Tyler, Ryan, Jaron, Tessa and Beau; great-grandchildren, Kalen and Karsen; stepgrandchildren, Paula and Todd, Colton, Ashton, Trinaty, Riley and Alex; two brothers, Bill and Nan Carter of Canyon City, Colo., and Dee Carter of Texas; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by parents; two brothers, Dwayne and Bob; and a grandson, Derek
