LAWTON, Iowa -- Wayne Zenor Hinrichs, 88, of Lawton died Monday, July 27, 2009, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville, Iowa, with the Rev. James Berka officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton. Wayne was born Aug. 20, 1920, in Woodbury County, Iowa, the son of John and Zora (Zenor) Hinrichs. He attended school and graduated from Lawton High School.
He married Geraldine "Jerre" Horsley on July 8, 1939, in Dakota City. They had resided in the Lawton area since 1939, where he farmed. Jerre died Jan. 29, 1998.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moville. He also was a member of Meadows Golf Club. He enjoyed fishing, camping, golfing and bowling. Following his retirement, he spent his winters in Mesa, Ariz.
Survivors include four children, Zoralea and Tom Crowl of Wilsall, Mont., Mike and Sharyl Hinrichs of Chesapeak, Va., Joane and Everett Hinrichs of Mason, Iowa, and Sandy and Bob Wang of Omaha; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Zora Hinrichs; his wife, Jerre Hinrichs; and a brother, Robert Hinrichs.
