Sioux City - Wayne Richard Renfro, 85, of Sioux City, died Friday, April 12, 2013, at his home.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Torey Lightcap officiating. Arrangements are with Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel.
Wayne was born Dec. 24, 1927, in Lawton, Iowa, the son of Owen and Rose (Tevis) Renfro. He grew up in the Sioux City area. Wayne joined the U.S. Army and served during World War II.
He married Jackie Spooner. They had three children: Robbie, Susie and Nancy. The couple later divorced.
Wayne married Joann Friend in January 1970, and together had a daughter, Kathy.
Wayne worked at Swift And Co., Little Armour and Floyd Valley Packing.
Wayne was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church and the American Legion. He enjoyed playing cards, watching his Iowa Hawkeyes, and tinkering, fixing and building things. He could fix anything.
Survivors include wife, Joann Renfro of Sioux City; daughters, Robbie Overman of Gretna, Neb., Susie (Jim) Clinton of Placida, Fla., and Kathy (Dave) Pope of Sergeant Bluff; 10 grandchildren, Cheyenne, Luke, Alison, Benjamin, Gracina, Aidan, Sydney, Jacob, Matt and Amy; four great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Ed, Bob and Ron Renfro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Nancy Renfro; a granddaughter, Jessica Nantz; and two brothers, Jerry and Dwight.
