William D. "Bill" Huebsch, 87, of North Sioux City died Friday, Oct. 31, 2014, at Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church, 995 Sioux Point Road, North Sioux City. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City. Bill was born May 23, 1927, in Webster County, Iowa, the son of John and Mary (Doyle) Huebsch. He was raised in the Fort Dodge, Iowa, area and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Fort Dodge. Bill attended Fort Dodge Community College and the University of Iowa.
After high school he sold fireproofing equipment around the Fort Dodge area. In 1953 he moved to Sioux City and worked for National Fertilizer Co., and became their general manager.
Bill married Dorothy Schuetz on June 28, 1967, in Sioux City. After their marriage the couple started their own wholesale greeting card business, Huebsch Wholesale Inc., which they operated until it was sold in 1999. The couple then moved to McCook Lake.
Bill was a member of Blessed Teresa Catholic Church in the Dakota Dunes.
He enjoyed hunting and trained his own hunting dogs. Bill was a member of Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited and The Nature Conservancy.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of McCook Lake; his son, Wade (Martja) Huebsch of Morgantown, W.V.; and three grandchildren, Garett, Nolan and Lauren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, John, Al and Vincent; and two sisters, Betty and Margaret.
