William E. (Bill) Ingalls, 79, of Missouri Valley, formerly of Sioux City passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018.
Services will be 1:30 PM, Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 PM until service time on Saturday.
William was born March 4, 1939, in Lake City, Iowa, the first-born son of Edna F. Mastin. He moved to Sioux City when he was a young boy and was adopted by Edna’s husband, Donald Ingalls. He graduated from East High School in 1957 and served as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 1957-1960.
On July 1, 1958, he married Doris M. Bergenske and they celebrated 53 years of marriage. Bill worked at Swift & Co pork-processing plant until it closed. He retired from the Commerce Building as the Maintenance/Boiler Operator in 1992. Bill was a kind-hearted, humble man who always looked out for his family. He was best at being silly, teasing, joking around, and making others laugh. He enjoyed travelling with Doris throughout Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado. He liked building model cars, fishing the Red River in N. Dakota, NASCAR racing, classic western movies, 1950’s rock n’ roll music, flower gardening, and watching the sunset.
Survivors include his three daughters, Laura Ingalls of LaVista, Nebraska, Christine Thurow and her husband, Jerry of Dubuque, Iowa, and Deborah Coon and her husband, Ray of Missouri Valley, Iowa; five half-siblings, David Ingalls of Cedar Park, Texas, Nancy Ingalls of Sioux City, Susan Curtis of Sioux City, Joan Cole of Sioux City, and Jerry Ingalls of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Edward Greer and his wife Christine, and Jessica Newcomb and her husband, Mike; 4 great-grandchildren, Jasper Levi Greer, Magdalena Dru Greer, Samuel Kenneth Lapsley, and Edward Robert Lapsley; and numerous nieces, and nephews, extended family and friends whom he loved.
