William D. "Bill" Kisting, 83, of Lawton passed away Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, at a Sioux City hospital.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Moville, Iowa, with the Rev. Pelzel officiating. Private family graveside services will be at a later date in Banner Township Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a parish vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of McCulloch Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home in Moville.
Bill was born on Oct. 19, 1932, in Bronson, Iowa, to George Judson and Mary Jane (Robinson) Kisting. Bill grew up in Lawton and graduated from Lawton High School in 1951.
Bill married Mildred "Millie" Bollig on Oct. 19, 1953, at St Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury, Iowa. They made their home in Lawton and to this union three daughters were born.
He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Korea during the Korean War. Bill worked with his father in their business, G.J. Kisting and Son. Bill worked at the family-owned gas station on Highway 20 and also drove tank wagon delivering fuel in the Lawton area. Bill drove school bus for many years for the Lawton-Bronson School District.
During his many years of living in Lawton, he was active in the community. Serving on the town council, as a volunteer with the Fire Department, active in the American Legion, and was a member of the Lawton Flight Club. In his later years, he enjoyed being a Papa and Great-Papa. He was an active fan watching his grandchildren's activities and sporting events.
Survivors include his wife, Millie; daughter, Rachelle Byers and her husband, Michael of Moville, and their two children, Heather and Matt Wahlberg and their children, Conor and Calen of Ankeny, Iowa, and Matthew Byers of Sioux Falls, S.D.; daughter, Mary Ellen of Jefferson, S.D., and her children, Brendon of Clinton, N.Y., and Molly of Wellesley, Mass.; daughter, D.D. Keleher and her husband, Les of Moberly, Mo., and their children, Joey Keleher and Leslie and their children, Brayden and Emery of Moberly, Mo., Weston Keleher of Atchison, Kan., and Davis Keleher of Moberly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Lowell Burdette Kisting and George Edward "Bud" Kisting.
