William M Kohn

William M. Kohn, age 85, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home where he had resided since March 2018.
Memorial Services will be held at Christy-Smith Funeral Home, Morningside Chapel at 11:00 a.m., March 6, 2019. Private burial will be at a later date in Long Pine, NE.
Bill was born May 2, 1933 in Montgomery, AL. He was the son of Albert and Mary (Cowell) Kohn. He graduated from St. Mary's School with the class of 1951. Following graduation, Bill entered the United States Air Force for 4 years. He returned to Montgomery before moving to Sioux City in 1959. He worked for many years at the Ever-Ready Auto Hospital. He was united in marriage with Verna (Gable) Morrison October 27, 1967 in Elk Point, SD. With this union Bill happily accepted his new role of parent and grandparent. Bill and Verna were married for forty-three years before she died in 2010. Bill was employed for twenty-three as a mechanic for Team Ford. Before retiring in 1995, he delivered parts for Interstate Auto. Bill with Verna enjoyed fishing and dancing and spending time with family and the grandkids. Bill enjoyed creating woodworking projects.
He is survived by two stepdaughters Juanita Beaubien and Pam (Terry) Shever of Correctionville, IA, grandchildren Bryan Beaubien, Jaimee Beaubien, Andrea Carroll, Angela (Tom) Kayl, Holly Beaubien, Elaine Hansen, Jana (John) Heilman, Leah Shever (fiancé Matt Doletzky), and Adam (Jessie) Shever and 10 great grandchildren, sister-in-law Nancy Gable, many nieces and nephews, dear close friends and church family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Verna, stepdaughter Jan Wright, son-in-law Vince Beaubien, grandson David Carroll and his 5 older siblings.
The family gives a special thank you to Ben Stoos, Bill's neighbor, the Rustin Avenue United Methodist Church Family, SC Senior companions, Holy Spirit staff and Care Initiative's Hospice.
