Wilma M. Haase, 94, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2017, at Accura Healthcare in Sioux City.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Faith United Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Homes.
Wilma was born on July 15, 1923, to Fred and Lillian (Cooper) Riser. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City in 1941.
She was married to John Butler from 1941, until his passing in 1949. She was then married to Lowell William Haase in 1951. Throughout her life, Wilma cared for her family and community. For 17 years, she was a director for the Sioux City Senior Center (Golden Age Club), part of the Sioux City Parks and Recreation Department.
Wilma was a member of St. James Methodist Church. She was a lifelong citizen of Sioux City.
Wilma is survived by her daughter-in-law, Pamela Ransford of McCook Lake, S.D.; sons, Richard (Carol) Butler of Sioux City, and William (LuAnn) Haase of Salix, Iowa; six grandchildren, Jim (Kathy) Butler, Robert (Amy) Butler, Eric Butler, Michele Butler, Alison (Chad) Manz, and Will (Krista) Haase; 12 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Wilda Abraham and Rosemary Haase; and numerous other relatives.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, John Butler and Lowell William Haase; son, John "Jack" Butler; sister, Phyllis Ludwig; and brothers, Roy Riser, Jack Riser, and Gerald Davidson.
