Wilma E. Schuldt, 93, of Sioux City passed away Monday, June 8, 2015, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Westfork Township Cemetery, Climbing Hill, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home.
Wilma was born on Oct. 30, 1921, in rural Le Mars, Iowa, to Ira N. and Clara (McConnell) Mitchell and raised on a farm. Wilma was the oldest of seven children and attended rural school in Woodbury and Plymouth counties. She worked as a mother's helper several years and also as a restaurant worker.
She married Joe "Bula" Schuldt on April 3, 1945, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Climbing Hill. Wilma and Joe raised five children and farmed near Climbing Hill until they sold the farm in 1974 and moved to Sioux City. She worked at Sioux City Stationery. She moved to Sunrise Retirement Community in 2010.
She was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, LWML, Lamp Lighters, and taught Sunday School most of her life. Wilma enjoyed card games, dominos, gardening, crocheting, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol and Doug Fitchner of Florida; her sons, James and Sharleen Schuldt of Elk Point, S.D., Donne and Marian Schuldt of Sioux City, and Robert and Paula Schuldt of Peoria, Ariz.; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and two sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Steven; four brothers; and two sisters.
