SIOUX CITY -- Zeta L. Swanson, 98, of Sioux City died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at Countryside Retirement Community.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Dann Speichinger of Washington Heights Chapel officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Swanson was born May 21, 1912, in Allen, Neb., the daughter of Ira S. and Laura E. (Roberts) Puckett. She graduated from Allen High School, then attended Wayne State Teachers College in Wayne, Neb. She moved to Sioux City around 1938 and lived here the rest of her life. She was employed with Johnson Biscuit Co. when she first came to Sioux City.
She married Anvey E. Swanson on Aug. 23, 1940, in Sioux City. Following her marriage, she was a homemaker and housewife. Anvey died on March 6, 2009, in Sioux City.
She was a member of Washington Heights Chapel. She taught Sunday school and Bible studies.
Survivors include two sons, Stan Swanson of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Don Swanson of Danbury, Iowa; three daughters and their husbands, Nancy and Paul Trawicki of Centennial, Colo., Elsie and George Kamm of Branson, Mo., and Carol and Ed McNiece of Worthington, Minn.; a brother and his wife, Jim and Betty Puckett of Pender, Neb.; a sister-in-law, Millie Swanson of Sioux City; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two sons; a grandson; a great-granddaughter; six brothers; and two sisters.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
